Outstanding Alumni Award
The 2001 Distinguished Master's Alumnus Award for the USC School of  Medicine  was presented to Cam Brasington of Carolinas Medical Center, a 1988 graduate of the Program. Nominated by a colleague, Cam was cited as a leader and role model for genetic counselors in her clinical service, family support and student education. Jill Fischer, a 1993 graduate was named the award's recipient in 2002-2003. In conjunction with the award, the honored alum is invited to return to the School of Medicine campus as a guest faculty to present to the genetic counseling students. Please see the article describing Jill Fischer's visit and lectures on Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Preimplantation Genetics

The 2004 Outstanding Alumni was Christine Miller, a 1989 graduate.  Christine's work in Salt Lake City, UT includes her leading the national effort toward licensure, described in the article here. In 2005, faculty member Vicki Vincent was honored for her dedication to patients and to educating future genetic counselors. Sonja Eubanks, Assistant Director of the UNC-Greensboro Genetic Counseling Program and 1996 USC Alumnae, was named as the honoree in 2006, and Holly Peay in 2007. We look forward to recognizing a new alumni each year.

S. Robert Young Outstanding Genetic Counselor Award

Every spring the Genetic Counseling Program faculty select one member of the graduating class to present with the S. Robert Young Outstanding Genetic Counselor Award. The outstanding genetic counseling student has performed in an exemplary
